Trump jokes about White House ‘Russian Room’ at UN lunch
‘We’ll take care of that,’ US president tells Moscow’s ambassador to UN

President Donald Trump just can’t help himself sometimes — not even when it comes to Russia, the country that has dogged his entire presidency.
Amid an impeachment scandal related to his dealings with Ukraine — which the Kremlin invaded in 2014 — Trump dropped a quip Thursday about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s homeland.
He joked in front of television cameras and reporters about building a “Russian Room” in the White House just hours after Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters when it comes to Trump “all roads lead to Putin.”

During a lunch in the Cabinet Room with all permanent representatives to the U.N. Security Council, Zhang Jun, China’s ambassador to the United Nations, thanked Trump for a White House tour. He said he was impressed by the executive mansion’s holiday decorations, including in the “China Room.”
Think fancy plates and bowls.
The Russian representative, flashing his nation’s sometimes-wry sense of humor, spoke a few minutes later as Trump went around the long rectangular table and allowed each of his guests to speak. He expressed joking disappointment in not having noticed a “Russian Room.”

“We saw the China room, but we didn’t see the Russian Room,” Vasily Nebenzya told Trump. “Perhaps it’s the one that’s still top secret.”
In a comment likely to be quoted by Democrats as the impeachment proceedings move to articles and a likely House floor vote, Trump quipped, “We’ll take care of that.”
