Photo of the day: Throwback to the 2016 campaign trail

(Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call)

In 1986, Life magazine dubbed the Nevada portion of U.S. Route 50 as “The Loneliest Road in America.”

Thirty years later on Oct. 15, 2016, Roll Call traveled that stretch of road while covering the Senate race between Joe Heck and Catherine Cortez Masto. The only stop on the 300-mile drive was for this pretty sunset photo.

This #throwbackthursday is yet another reminder of how much the Roll Call photo staff misses the campaign trail during this pandemic.
