Lauren Boebert won the race for Colorado’s 3rd District in the November election and is the first woman to represent the district.

The restaurant owner made headlines this summer when she defeated five-term incumbent Rep. Scott Tipton, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump, in the state’s June primary.

Surface transportation bill approved by House committee

House Republicans had hoped to pass a bill Thursday that would allow construction of a Smithsonian museum of women’s history on the National Mall, while also banning transgender exhibits and handing President Donald Trump the final say over its location. But in the end they couldn’t get the votes.
