Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser greets a youngster during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday for the new Mamie “Peanut” Johnson Plaza at the intersection of New York Avenue, Florida Avenue, and First Street, Northeast. Johnson was the first female pitcher in the Negro Leagues.
