An honor guard carries the casket of Army Capt. Russell Rippetoe during his funeral Thursday at Arlington National Cemetery. The 27-year-old, the first combat casualty from the Iraq war to be buried at Arlington, was killed April 3 with two other soldiers in a car bomb attack in Iraq. He was posthumously awarded two Bronze Stars for valor, a Purple Heart and a Meritorious Service Medal.
