California: Conservative Stalwarts Back Oller in House Race

Former state Sen. Rico Oller, whose main competition in the 4th district GOP primary appears to be ex-Rep. Doug Ose, has been endorsed by two of California’s top legislative Republicans.

State Senate Minority Leader Dick Ackerman and former state Senate Minority Leader Jim Brulte both are backing Oller, who served with them in Sacramento. Ackerman and Brulte hail from Southern California; the 4th district encompasses the foothills and suburbs just east of Sacramento.

“I served with Rico Oller in the State Senate and know his conservative credentials are unmatched,” Ackerman said in a statement. “Rico Oller stands against new taxes, against out-of-control spending and will be a firm voice for conservative values in Washington D.C.”

Ose has received the backing of 3rd district Rep. Dan Lungren (R).

The solidly Republican 4th district opened up earlier this year when Rep. John Doolittle (R) announced he was retiring. Police Administrator Charlie Brown, the 2006 nominee who almost upset Doolittle, is running for the Democrats.
