Markey Attacks McCain on Energy Policy

Energy Independence and Global Warming Chairman Ed Markey (D-Mass.) attacked the energy record of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) on Wednesday, singling out an alternative energy stimulus bill that McCain didn’t show up to vote on, which failed by one vote in February. “There is no other subject like energy independence that touches so many different subjects simultaneously, including national security and the economy,” Markey said Wednesday as part of a panel on alternative energy. Other speakers, including Josh Becker, a major investor in clean technology, also attacked the Republican’s record. “The time for words has passed,” Becker said. “We need action, leadership, and a president who supports these policies.”
