Hurricane Winds Felt at Convention Parties

Twin Cities party-goers continued to pour into First Avenue late Monday, packing the downtown Minneapolis nightclub in any effort to raise money for hurricane survivors — past and present.

A portion of the proceeds from the New Orleans All-Star Jam-Balaya, an event co-sponsored by Roll Call, will benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina, as well as Hurricane Gustav, whose dangerous storm surge continues to threaten portions of the Crescent City.

Republicans scaled back the first day of the Republican National Convention as state and federal officials monitored and prepared for the arrival of Gustav along the Gulf Coast.
