McCotter Comes to Dingell’s Defense

House GOP Policy Committee Chairman Thaddeus McCotter (Mich.) on Thursday characterized Rep. John Dingell’s (D-Mich.) removal as Energy and Commerce chairman as “a body blow” to working families. Democrats voted on Thursday to install Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) as chairman of the powerful committee. Dingell was removed from his post by “the very House Caucus he has so loyally and effectively served for over 50 years,” McCotter said. McCotter said he has not always agreed with his fellow Michigan lawmaker’s policies, but has respected his work for their home state. “For working families, the American auto industry and our entire manufacturing base an already dim day has grown darker due to this internecine betrayal of Chairman Dingell,” he said.
