Coleman’s Margin Narrows as Ballots Are Recounted

Comedian Al Franken (D) continues to close the gap between him and Sen. Norm Coleman (R) as Minnesota continues its vote recount.

Coleman now leads Franken by 136 votes with 46 percent of precincts recounted, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. More than 700 ballots have been challenged in the process so far by either the Coleman or Franken campaigns.

Counties must finish the recount by Dec. 5.

The state certified the original vote on Nov 18, which showed Coleman with a 215 vote lead over Franken. Changes to the final vote as a result of the recount are updated daily at 8 p.m. CST, according to the Minnesota secretary of State’s Web site.
