Waxman Being Discharged From Hospital

House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) is being discharged from the hospital after a two-day stay prompted by a fainting spell in his Los Angeles office.

A committee spokeswoman said in a statement Thursday afternoon that Waxman is “in good health and will be back to work in Washington next week.—

The 69-year-old lawmaker checked into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for routine testing on Tuesday after the incident.

Waxman had just wrapped up weeks of intense negotiations to help secure a squeaker of a victory on the climate change legislation that he co-authored. His workload isn’t likely to ease much after Congress returns to work next week as he is also set to play a starring role in the upcoming health care debate.
