[IMGCAP(1)]Edward B. McLean, publisher of the Washington Post from 1916 to 1933, testifies in 1924 before a Senate committee investigating naval oil leases. McLean had earlier claimed to have lent Interior Secretary Albert Fall $100,000. Later investigations discovered that, in fact, Fall’s sudden wealth had come from other sources, which eventually revealed the Teapot Dome bribery scandal.
