HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Smoke ’Em if You Got ’Em

Monday night is the last hurrah for Virginia smokers — a statewide ban on lighting up in restaurants and bars goes into effect Tuesday. Those who want to go out with a puff can revel with fellow tobacco-philes at the super-smoky cigar dinners that the Virginia locations of Morton’s steakhouse are throwing.[IMGCAP(1)]Billed as a farewell to lighting up in the Commonwealth, the Crystal City, Reston and Tysons Corner locations of the steakhouse are hosting receptions and dinners with the very elements that have fueled many a political meeting: Virginia tobacco, steaks and Virginia wine. Not everyone is crying into their ashtrays, though. Chris Gerkin, the general manager of the Reston Morton’s, tells HOH that over the weekend, the restaurant’s carpets will be shampooed in preparation for the smoke-free future.
