Ron Paul Pens Fundraising Pitch for Son’s Senate Bid

Former presidential candidate and Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R) on Monday released a fundraising appeal on Monday asking his supporters to participate in an online “money bomb” fundraiser on Wednesday for his son Rand Paul (R), who is running for Senate in Kentucky.

“In 2007, we made history together by raising over $6 million in one day,” Ron Paul wrote in his release. “Now, we need to make this December 16th special by helping propel my son, Rand, to the United States Senate. Our fellow lovers of Liberty are organizing a Money Bomb for Rand and we need your help.”

So far this year Rand Paul, who works as an eye surgeon in Kentucky, has made good use of the national Internet-based fundraising and libertarian network that his father built last cycle. Part of the reason why Paul is considered a serious threat to Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson — who is the establishment choice in the primary — is because he raised an impressive $1 million in the third quarter this year.
