Indiana: Kyl Backs Ex-Sen. Coats, Donates the Maximum

The No. 2-ranking Republican in the Senate has already given the maximum political contribution to former Sen. Dan Coats (R), who’s running to reclaim his former seat.

Senate Majority Fund, the leadership political action committee of Minority Whip Jon Kyl, has given Coats’ campaign $10,000, according to a Federal Election Commission filing.

Kyl was first elected to the Senate in 1994 and served for four years with Coats, who retired at the end of 1998.

Coats is one of five candidates in a May 4 primary that also includes former Rep. John Hostettler and state Sen. Marlin Stutzman.

Rep. Brad Ellsworth is the leading candidate for the Democratic nomination.
