DeMint and Bachmann Press Case for Repeal of Health Care

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) restated their calls for repeal of the health care bill this morning on “Face the Nation” with Bob Schieffer.

President Barack Obama “burned a lot of bridges on health care reform,” DeMint said. “To give up on repealing this bill will be giving up on this country.” He added, “The president is mocking the Americans who continue to be against this bill.”

At the same time, DeMint said that Republicans are “still looking for ways to work with the president,” particularly in foreign policy.

Bachmann also slammed the health care bill, saying it will cause “massive job loss.”

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine, also on “Face the Nation,” defended a fundraising letter the committee recently sent out, saying, “Our members are being hit by an onslaught of advertising. I want to be on TV thanking our members.”

Kaine also criticized some of the Republican advertising against health care and the Democrats who voted in favor of it, saying, “Some Members are saying, ‘This is Armageddon.’ They’re stoking anger and they need to stop it.”
