Morning Business: Big Russ

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington has renamed its annual Congressional dinner after Tim Russert, the late, beloved host of NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Russert, who died suddenly in 2008, frequently served as master of ceremonies at the clubs’ Congressional dinners and did other work for the charity through the years.

[IMGCAP(1)]Russert’s son, MSNBC personality Luke Russert, will be emcee at this year’s dinner, which is Tuesday at the JW Marriott Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest. Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) are the Members of Congress who will be honored that evening.

The event from here on will be known as the Tim Russert Congressional Dinner. In addition to his time at NBC, Russert worked for Congress, as an aide to the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.).
