HOH’s One-Minute Recess: The Battle Continues

The ongoing prank war between Sens. Claire McCaskill and Ben Nelson continued via Twitter this weekend, when the Missouri Democrat used the social messaging site to talk a little smack at the Nebraska Democrat.

Ahead of the college football matchup between McCaskill’s Missouri Tigers and Nelson’s Nebraska Cornhuskers, McCaskill posted a photo of an angry tiger about to bite off the head of a Nebraska’s Herbie Husker mascot. ‘This picture is for @SenBenNelson,’ McCaskill wrote.

Oh snap!

But unfortunately for McCaskill, Nelson got the last laugh, as the Huskers beat the Tigers, 37-17. Appropriately, he responded to his Senatorial colleague via Twitter.

‘@clairecmc Thanks for the picture, I like this picture better. Great game,’ he wrote, linking to the image of a newspaper headline touting the Huskers’ big victory.

This isn’t the first time the two Senators have clashed over the Missouri-Nebraska game. Ahead of last year’s bout, McCaskill snuck into Nelson’s Senate office (with his staff’s permission, of course) to hang doctored photos of Nelson wearing Missouri hats, ties and football helmets. For his part, Nelson has punk’d McCaskill a few times ‘ he once hung pictures of himself over all of her framed pictures in her Senate office.

Cusack Backs Grayson

Rep. Alan Grayson is running several points behind in the polls in his campaign to keep his seat, but the Florida Democrat got a celebrity boost Monday when actor John Cusack offered his support via Twitter.

‘been in contact with alan grayson– he needs every dem and indep-to show up tusday to win,’ Cusack writes to his more than 267,000 followers. ‘if u care and live in his dist- vote- please!’

Monday isn’t the first time Cusack endorsed Grayson, either. In an Oct. 30 tweet, Cusack linked to a larger post urging Floridians to vote for Grayson.

‘if you have a chance to vote for alan grayson- if u live in his district- please vote- if you care about war and its hideous profiteers and corruption and want real independence in gov,’ Cusack writes. ‘Grayson a man with real courage– i have met with him can fully endorse him. he’s for real.’
