HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Gridiron Club to Host After-Party

Now that the state dinner is over, it’s time to start looking ahead to the Gridiron Club’s dinner.

But don’t sweat it if you suspect your invitation got lost in the mail. For the first time in history, the club is inviting nonmembers to partake in the weekend’s festivities.

Each year, journalists and lawmakers gather at this exclusive, invite-only event. Scheduled for March 12 at the Renaissance Washington Hotel, the dinner is expected to feature an appearance by President Barack Obama.

This year, the public is invited to attend “Sunday at the Gridiron Club” the day after the swanky soiree. A $70 ticket includes a reception with free wine and beer and a repeat performance of the previous night’s show. The Marine Corps Band will play and journalist Mark Shields will recount juicy tidbits from the dinner, including all the details of Obama’s appearance.

Proceeds from the event will benefit journalism students through the Gridiron Club Foundation.
