Nobody can argue that Rep. Donna Edwards isn’t dedicated to her work. To show her support for global warming awareness, the Maryland Democrat was among the dedicated activists who jumped into the icy waters of the Potomac River on Saturday.

“I’ve always wondered who those crazy people were, and now I’m one of them,” Edwards jokes to HOH.

Sponsored by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, the sixth annual Polar Bear Plunge was held at National Harbor, Md. While some dressed in bikinis or swim trunks, Edwards wore a wet suit, which she says helped keep her body warm in the frigid water.

And because the outside temperature was actually colder than the water, jumping in wasn’t so bad, Edwards explains. “By the time I jumped into the water, it didn’t feel warm, but it didn’t feel as cold,” she says.

Edwards adds that she only stayed in the water for about a minute.

Would Edwards take the plunge again? “I might,” she says, laughing.
