HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Levin Goes Hollywood

Sunday night’s Academy Awards ceremony was a star-studded event featuring appearances by Tom Hanks, Natalie Portman and … Sen. Carl Levin?

It’s not often that a Senator pops up on screen at the swanky Oscars, but the Michigan Democrat made a quick appearance in a scene from the Best Documentary winner, “Inside Job.”

The clip showed Levin grilling Goldman Sachs Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer David Viniar at a hearing of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Investigations last year. The C-SPAN 3 logo was also shown in the corner of the screen.

While the clip was brief, it wasn’t lost on Washingtonians.

“And @cspan makes an #Oscar cameo!” tweeted Jeremy Art, C-SPAN’s digital and social media specialist. Art even attached a photo of the clip.

It’s unknown how Levin feels about his 15 minutes of Oscar fame; calls to his office were not immediately returned.
