It’s that time of year again. Staffer favorite Taste of the South is just around the corner.

Tickets for the April 16 gala go on sale Tuesday.

In recent years, the annual event has been held in warmer months at the D.C. Armory. This year, however, it will take place a few weeks earlier at the DAR Constitution Hall.

While Constitution Hall, unlike the Armory, has air conditioning, it also has a lot less space. The Armory can squeeze in about 2,500 people, but Constitution Hall can only hold around 2,000. As a result, tickets, which are $100 each, are expected to sell quickly.

This year’s theme is “City Lights, Southern Nights.” Virginia Beach-based cover band 10 Spot will play hits ranging from songs from Marvin Gaye to the Black Eyed Peas.

TOTS originally launched in 1982 as a way to bring “Southern hospitality” to D.C. while also raising money for charity. All of the proceeds from ticket sales will to go the Children’s Safety Center in Springdale, Ark.
