Heard on the Hill: Kerry’s Staff Stands Out

HOH hears one staffer in Sen. John Kerry’s office is being honored for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Christina Wiskowski, who works in the Massachusetts Democrat’s office while also serving in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, was scheduled to receive recognition for her exemplary military service at a gala Wednesday night.

“Christina was born with duty and service in her DNA,” Kerry tells HOH. “Whether it’s been serving in Afghanistan or working in government, she really walks the walk. We’re lucky to have her on staff.”

Wiskowski was recognized at the annual Armed Services YMCA Angels of the Battlefield Gala at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

She’s not the only service member on Kerry’s staff. Turns out that Kerry’s office is home to several active-duty military personnel.

Staffer Sebastian Hazzard is currently serving in Iraq, while Kerry’s former deputy state director, Setti Warren, did a yearlong deployment to Iraq as well.

“It’s an important part of our office culture,” Kerry says.
