Rep. West Records Robocall for Corwin

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), one of the tea party’s most visible freshman Members, recorded a robocall for Jane Corwin, the Republican candidate for Congress in the special election in New York’s 26th district.

“Jane Corwin is the only endorsed tea party candidate and the only candidate who will stand up to Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi and their out-of-control spending agenda,” West said in the call, which can be heard here. The Corwin campaign said the call would go out to about 30,000 households.

The call attempts to differentiate Corwin from Jack Davis, who will appear on the Tea Party ballot line. Democrat Kathy Hochul is also running in the tight race to fill the seat vacated by former Rep. Chris Lee (R), who resigned after it was alleged he sent shirtless photos of himself to a woman on the website Craigslist.

“Congressman West is an American Patriot and I am honored to have his support for Congress,” Corwin said in a statement.

The election, which has drawn substantial investments from out-of-state groups, is scheduled for Tuesday.
