Haridopolos Snags Connie Mack Endorsement in Fla. Senate Race

Florida Senate hopeful Mike Haridopolos on Monday was endorsed by four-term Rep. Connie Mack IV (R-Fla.). It’s the latest in a series of endorsements by top Florida Republicans a year before the primary.

“Mike Haridopolos has confronted the challenges of our day with a steadfast commitment to freedom, limited government, and fiscal responsibility and I am proud to stand with him,” Mack said in a statement sent by the Haridopolos campaign.

Haridopolos, the Florida Senate president, has also snagged the GOP endorsements of Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and former Rep. Adam Putnam, state Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater and state Speaker Dean Cannon. Haridopolos was also endorsed by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Haridopolos raised a hefty $2.6 million in the first quarter of this year. He faces former House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, former Sen. George LeMieux and retired Army officer Mike McCalister in the GOP primary to take on two-term Sen. Bill Nelson (D). Former Ruth’s Chris CEO Craig Miller is seen as likely to enter the race within weeks.

Hasner, taking a different tack than Haridopolos, has picked up the endorsements of conservative radio hosts Mark Levin, Hugh Hewitt and Monica Crowley, influential conservative blogger Erick Erickson and former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell.
