Heard on the Hill: Giffords Memoir Out on Nov. 15

The story of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ life and remarkable recovery will be available
Nov. 15 — just 11 months after the Arizona Democrat suffered a gunshot wound to the brain.

“Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope” is a joint memoir  by the Congresswoman and her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly.

The book was co-written with Wall Street Journal columnist Jeffrey Zaslow, but Scribner Publishing spokesman Brian Belfiglio told the Associated Press that Giffords “has been fully engaged with the writing process of the book at every step.”

Belfiglio declined to elaborate on that comment.

According to Scribner, the memoir will cover more than just the shooting and its aftermath. The book will also detail the couple’s courtship as well as recount Kelly’s path from a decorated Desert Storm combat pilot to commander of the Space Shuttle Endeavour’s final flight.

We’re glad to see Giffords continue her amazing recovery, and here at HOH, we take particular delight at how this latest step makes memoirist Levi Johnston seem even smaller.
