Rep. John Mica officially announced his bid for re-election in Florida’s proposed 7th district today, confirming a race versus fellow Republican Rep. Sandy Adams.

The House Transportation and Infrastructure chairman’s likely move was reported earlier this week. Adams, a freshman, announced Jan. 30 that she would run in the 7th.

The proposed map, awaiting Gov. Rick Scott’s (R) signature, draws the 7th district north of Orlando. It contains 51 percent of Adams’ current district and 42 percent of Mica’s current district, according to statistics tabulated by the Legislature. Mica is serving his 10th term in the House.

The map, almost certain to be signed into law soon, can be viewed here.
