Rep. Jason Altmire raised slightly more than Rep. Mark Critz in the final months before their April 24 Democratic primary in a southwestern Pennsylvania House district.

Altmire’s campaign announced he raised about $330,000 from Jan. 1 through April 4, which is the pre-primary reporting period.

Critz raised about $285,000 during the same period, his top campaign aide confirmed to Roll Call.

Cash on hand totals were not available yet for either campaign. But Altmire’s team boasted he’s raised $1.5 million so far this cycle, and Critz’s most recent haul brings his campaign fundraising total to just more than $1.1 million.

An internal poll done in late March for the Critz campaign showed Altmire ahead by 7 points, but the race was tightening. The only Democrat in the Keystone State delegation who has publicly taken sides in the contest is Rep. Robert Brady. However, many Members’ loyalties privately lie with Critz, a former top aide to the late Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.).

The winner of the Democratic primary will face likely GOP nominee attorney Keith Rothfus in November.

Roll Call rates the 12th district race as a Tossup.
