Iowa: Tom Latham Introduces Himself On Air

Rep. Tom Latham (R) went up with a biographical spot this week in his race against fellow Rep. Leonard Boswell (D) in southwestern Iowa.

The advertisement buy is for “six figures” on television and radio, according to a Latham aide.

The spot marks Latham’s second in the race, but conservative outside groups have targeted the 3rd district race for many months. Crossroads GPS has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to boost Latham, an ally and close personal friend of Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

Iowa will have one fewer House seats next year, effectively forcing two Members to run against each other if they sought re-election. Latham challenged Boswell in territory that is fairly new to the Republican.

But Latham is slightly favored to win re-election over Boswell because of his strong fundraiser and help from conservative groups.

Roll Call rates this race as Leans Republican.
