California: Janice Hahn Up Double-Digits in Internal Poll
A poll conducted for Rep. Janice Hahn’s campaign found the freshman up double-digits against fellow Democratic Rep. Laura Richardson in one of two intraparty Member-vs.-Member races happening in Los Angeles.
The FM3 poll obtained by Roll Call found that Hahn led Richardson, 43 percent to 27 percent, with 30 percent undecided.
The Hahn advantage is not surprising, given that she topped Richardson by 20 points, 60 percent to 40 percent, in the June “jungle” primary in which they were the only two candidates. Richardson has been battling ethics issues throughout the race, coming to a head Aug. 2 when she was officially reprimanded by the House.
The poll’s release also comes on the heels of a third-quarter fundraising disclosure that showed Richardson had raised just $7,000 from individuals and political action committees from July to September and ended September with $68,000 in cash on hand. Hahn raised $180,000 from individuals and PACs and had $132,000 in the bank.
Hahn spokesman Dave Jacobson said “the poll confirms that voters throughout the 44th district want Congresswoman Hahn to be their voice in Congress” and that Hahn “is the strong favorite to come out on top” Nov. 6.
The poll was conducted Sept. 26-29 among 350 likely voters with a 5.3-point margin of error.
