People on the Move

Todd R. Harrison has rejoined Patton Boggs, as a partner in the litigation and dispute reconciliation practice group. He was chief counsel for oversight and investigations for the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He has worked for the Justice Department as a federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York.

The following four people have joined the Stimson Center, a nonpartisan global security think tank:

Geneive Abdo is a fellow in the Middle East/Southwest Asia program. She was the director of the Iran program at the Century Foundation. She also worked as the liaison officer for the Alliance of Civilizations, an initiative through the United Nations under former Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

John Edwards is national defense visiting fellow. Edwards was a commander for the 96th bomb squadron in the Air Force. He has served as deputy division chief of plans and requirements at U.S. Air Forces Central Command. He was chief of strategy for Air Forces Central and the 9th Air Force.

Amy Nelson is a visiting research fellow. She is also a visiting research associate at Johns Hopkins University. She has served as an intern for the arms control delegation for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe through the State Department under President Obama. She worked as a research fellow at the Institute Of International Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.

Yun Sun is a fellow in the East Asia program. She was a visiting fellow at the Center for Northeast Asia policy studies at the Brookings Institution. She also worked as a China Analyst for International Crisis Group.

Michael V. Beall has been hired as CEO of the National Cooperative Business Association. Beall is the president of the Missouri Credit Union Association. He has worked as the CEO of the Maryland and District of Columbia Credit Union Association. He has also worked as manager of governmental affairs for the World Council of Credit Unions.

John Schmitz has been hired as a partner at Bingham Consulting, a subsidiary of law and lobbying firm Bingham McCutchen. Schmitz was a managing partner at Schmitz Global Partners, a consulting firm. He has worked as a partner at law and lobbying firm Mayer Brown. He also has served at the White House as deputy counsel to President George Bush.

Mary Patrice Brown has joined the white collar defense and corporate investigations practice at law and lobbying firm O’Melveny & Myers as a partner. Brown was a deputy assistant attorney general in the Justice Department’s criminal division. She has worked as head of the department’s office of professional responsibility. She also has served as chief of the criminal division in the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington.

Richard W. Smith has joined the litigation practice at law and lobbying firm Wiley Rein as a partner. Smith was a capital partner McDermott, Will & Emery.
