Brown was chief counsel to the Republican staff of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power. She has worked as an energy and environment policy counsel for the Senate Republican Policy Committee. She also has worked as a public policy manager for ConocoPhilips.
Mary Jo Carden has been hired as director of regulatory affairs for the Academy of Managed Care. Carden was the director of regulatory affairs at Medco Health Solutions Inc. She founded and was president of Carden and Associates, a health care policy and advocacy firm. She has worked as director of government affairs for the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.
Paul Scolese has been hired as assistant vice president of government affairs at media company Cox Enterprises. Scolese was a policy adviser for law and lobbying firm Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. He has worked as a Republican staff member for the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He also has worked as a legislative director and administrative assistant for former Rep. Bill Paxon, R-N.Y.
Allan Adler has been promoted to general counsel and vice president of government affairs at the Association of American Publishers. Adler was the vice president of legal and government affairs. He has worked as a staff attorney for the Center for National Security Studies. He also has worked as staff director for the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press.

John Acree has been hired as a practice area director for political transitions at Creative Associates International. Acree was the chief of USAID’s stabilization unit in Afghanistan. He has worked as a senior manager in the relief and reconstruction division at the International Resources Group, an international professional services firm.
Tom Rosenstiel has been named executive director of the American Press Institute. Rosenstiel is the founder and director of Pew research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism. He has worked as a press critic for the Los Angeles Times. He also has worked as a congressional correspondent for Newsweek.
Dora L. Hughes has joined the government strategies group as senior policy adviser at law and lobbying firm Sidley Austin. Hughes was a science and public health counselor to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. She worked as a policy adviser to then-Sen. Barack Obama, R-Ill. She also has worked as a deputy health staff director for the Democratic staff of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
