Charles Yi has been promoted to staff director and chief counsel for the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee. Yi was chief counsel and deputy staff director. He has worked as deputy assistant secretary for banking and finance at the Treasury Department. He also served as counsel on the House Financial Services Committee.

Laura Swanson has been promoted to deputy staff director of Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. She was policy director. She has worked as the committee’s lead staffer on safety and regulation of financial institutions. She was the staff director to Sen. Tim Johnson, D-S.D., for the Senate Financial Institutions subcommittee. She also worked for Johnson in his district office. She worked for former Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., in his district office.

Dwight Fettig has been named a partner at Porterfield & Lowenthal, a law and lobbying firm. Fettig was a Democratic staff director for the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee. He has worked as a legislative director for then-Rep. Tim Johnson, D-S.D. He has worked as a senior legislative and policy adviser at law and lobbying firm Arnold & Porter. He also has worked as senior director of government industry relations for Freddie Mac.

The following people have been named as members of the advisory council at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, an international diplomacy advocacy group:

Richard G. Lugar is a Republican senator from Indiana. Lugar has served as Republican leader of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee. He has also served as the mayor of Indianapolis.

Howard L. Berman is a Democratic representative from California. Berman has served as chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He has also served as a member and majority leader of the California State Assembly.

Robert Zoellick was president of the World Bank. He has served under President George W. Bush as U.S. Trade Representative and at the State Department as deputy secretary of State. He also is a senior fellow at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.

Marisol Garibay has been named the leader of the communications office at the Organization for International Investment. She was communications director for the House Financial Services Committee. Garibay served as a special assistant for banking and finance at the Treasury Department under President George W. Bush. She also worked for former Sens. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., and Peter G. Fitzgerald, R-Ill.
