Alberto Martinez has been hired as deputy chief of staff for Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. Martinez was a senior adviser to Rubio’s Reclaim America PAC and to Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign. He has worked as the Republican communications director in the Florida House of Representatives. He also has worked as the Florida communications director for President George W. Bush’s 2004 presidential campaign.

Brooke Sammon has been hired as deputy press secretary for Rubio. Sammon was a media affairs director for Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign. She has worked as press secretary for Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill. She also has worked as press secretary for Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga.

Richard Russell has been hired as a partner at Stanton Park Group, a lobbying firm. Russell is the Republican staff director for the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. He has worked as deputy director for technology in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy under George W. Bush. He also has served as an ambassador to the World Radiocommunication Conference.

Kristin Lord has been named executive vice president of the United States Institute of Peace. Lord was executive vice president and director of studies at the Center for a New American Security, a national security think tank. She has worked as a scholar at the Brookings Institution, a liberal-leaning think tank. She also has worked as associate dean at The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs.

Jason M. Knott has been promoted to partner at Zuckerman Spaeder. Knott was an associate. He has worked as an associate at law and lobbying firm Covington & Burling. He also has worked as a judicial intern for District court Judge G. Ross Anderson.

The following people have been hired or promoted at Serco Inc., a government services company:

Gary Shankman has been hired as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Shankman was the chief financial officer for the defense solutions group at Science Applications International Corp., a defense technology company (SAIC). He has worked as a principal at Navigant Consulting. He also has worked as a principal at Arthur Andersen.

Chris Sullivan has been hired as senior vice president and chief information officer. Sullivan was chief information officer for the North American public sector at information technology company CSC.

Candy Curtin has been promoted to senior vice president of the human resources department. Curtin was interim head of the department. She has also worked as head of human resources for the State Department Credit Union.

Jim Orndorff has been hired as vice president of the intelligence business unit. Orndorff was senior vice president and chief technology officer of the cyber and intelligence business areas at SAIC.
