Brian E. Treat has been promoted to chief of staff to Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. Treat was a legislative assistant and a senior policy adviser to Coburn and also worked as an aide to Coburn when he served in the House.
Adam Magary has been hired as chief of staff to Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo. He was chief of staff to Rep. Donald Manzullo, R-Ill. He also has served as a senior policy adviser on the House Small Business Committee. He was a legislative assistant for Rep. Jim Ryun, R-Kan.
Bruce Hirsh has been hired as chief international trade counsel for the Democratic staff of the Senate Finance Committee. Hirsh was an international trade counsel for the committee, advising Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont. He has worked as deputy assistant U.S. trade representative for the World Trade Organization & Multilateral Affairs. He also has worked as deputy assistant U.S. trade representative for monitoring and enforcement and chief counsel for dispute settlement.
Mary J. Pavel has been hired as staff director for the Democratic staff of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. She was a partner at Sonosky, Chambers, Sachse, Endreson & Perry, becoming one of the first women to be made a partner in a National Indian Law Firm. She also is the founding president of the Native American Bar Association of Washington, D.C.
Daniel Chung has been hired as of counsel at Gibson Dunn. He was an assistant U.S. attorney in the organized crime unit in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York’s criminal division. He also has worked as an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell. He was a clerk for Judge Michael Mukasey for the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York. He also worked as a clerk for Judge Norman Stahl of the U.S. Court of Appeals, 1st Circuit.
Ilyse Hogue has been named president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. Hogue was the co-founder and co-director of Friends of Democracy Super PAC. She also has served as a senior adviser to Media Matters for America. She also has worked as director of political advocacy and communications for MoveOn.org. She was program director at the Rainforest Action Network.
