Monica Jirik has been promoted to chief of staff to Rep. Adrian Smith, R-Neb. Jirik was his deputy chief of staff and legislative director.
Rick F. Ambrose has been appointed executive vice president of the space systems business at Lockheed Martin Corp. Ambrose is vice president and deputy at space systems. He also has worked as the president of the information systems and global solutions national business.
Sondra L. Barbour has been appointed executive vice president of the information systems and global solutions business at Lockheed Martin. She is currently senior vice president and chief information officer. She also has served as chief information officer and vice president of operations.
Marc Grossman has rejoined the Cohen Group, a lobbying firm, as vice chairman. Grossman served at the State Department as special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan. He has also served as under secretary for political affairs and as ambassador to Turkey. He is a Kissinger senior fellow at Yale University’s Jackson Institute and is chairman of the board of the Senior Living Foundation of the Foreign Service.
John Shanahan has been hired as vice president for legislative affairs at the National Association of Chemical Distributors, a trade group. Shanahan was senior director for government affairs at the Grocery Manufacturers Association. He has worked as senior counsel for the Republicans staff of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
Bryan Casey has been appointed vice president of client services at Ardent Management Consulting. Casey was the leader of the Washington DC District Wireless Accelerated Responder Network.
James Correll has been appointed vice president of technology services at Ardent. He was director of software development at Ardent. He also has worked as senior software engineer at Ardent and at Dewberry. He was a software developer at Computer Sciences Corp.
The following people have been appointed to the American Humane Association’s humane research and policy division:
Stephen O’Brien has been appointed as a senior fellow for humane research in the Animal Welfare Research Institute. O’Brien was chief scientific officer at the Theodosius Dobzhansky Center for Genome Bioinformatics at St. Petersburg State University in Russia. He also has served as chief of the laboratory of genomic diversity at the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute.
Caren Caty has been appointed as a senior fellow for humane research in the Children’s Innovation Institute. Caty is the CEO of Advanced Psychological Solutions Inc. She has worked as an adjunct faculty member at Phillips Graduate Institute in California.
Michael Good has also been appointed as a senior fellow for humane research in the Children’s Innovation Institute. Good is the founder of the Underhound Railroad and the Homeless Pets Club.
