People on the Move: Feb. 12, 2013

The following people have been hired for the staff of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas:

Max Pappas is senior economist and director of outreach. He was vice president of public policy and government affairs at FreedomWorks. He also served as executive director and treasurer at FreedomWorks PAC. He was a research assistant at the Cato Institute.

Sean Rushton is communications director. He was senior adviser for communications for Cruz’s congressional campaign. Rushton also has worked as director of corporate communications at Mission Essential Personnel. He served as communications director at the Small Business Administration. He was executive director of C. Boyden Gray’s Committee for Justice. He worked as media director at Citizens Against Government Waste. He was press secretary to former Rep. Bill Archer, R-Texas. He also worked as deputy press secretary for Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif.

Dougie Simmons is director of scheduling. She was director of events for the Republican National Committee. She also has worked as director of scheduling to former Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas. She was an associate at the Larrison Group. She also has served as a scheduler to President George W. Bush. She served as executive assistant to the director of the National Economic Council.

Charlie Keller has been hired as deputy chief of staff to Rep. Robert W. Goodlatte, R-Va. He was chief of staff to former Rep. Sandy Adams, R-Fla. He also has worked as communications director to Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash. He was also communications director to former Reps. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Fla., and Jack Quinn, R-N.Y. He was legislative assistant and deputy press secretary to Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas.

Nick Schaper has been hired as a strategist at Engage. He was executive director of digital strategic communications at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He also has worked as director of digital media for the leadership office of Rep. John A. Boehner, R-Ohio. He was director of congressional affairs at Adfero Group. He worked as a legislative assistant to former Rep. Ric Keller, R-Fla.

Jason Kratovil has been named vice president and deputy executive director of the card policy council at the American Bankers Association. He was vice president of congressional relations at the Independent Community Bankers of America. He also has worked as legislative director to former Rep. Steven C. LaTourette, R-Ohio.

Larry Hattix has been promoted to senior deputy comptroller for enterprise governance at the Treasury Department’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Hattix is the ombudsman. He has worked at the office as assistant deputy comptroller for the Cincinnati/Columbus field office. He also has worked at the OCC as specialist in bank information systems and as a national bank examiner.

Greg Crist has been promoted to senior vice president at the American health Care Association, a trade group. Crist was the vice president of public affairs. He has worked as senior vice president of strategic communications at lobbying firm Dutko Worldwide. He has also worked as communications director for the House Republican Conference and as a press secretary for former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas.

David Streeter has been promoted to press secretary at the National Jewish Democratic Council. Streeter was an associate at the NJDC. He has worked as an intern for the organization. He also has worked as a regional advocacy coordinator at Brit Tzedek v’Shalom — The Jewish Alliance for Justice & Peace.

David Herr has been promoted to executive vice president of service sectors at defense technology company BAE Systems. Herr was president of the support solutions sector. He has worked as vice president of Commercial Avionics for BAE Systems’ Platform Solutions business. He also has worked at BAE as vice president of operations for the electronics and integrated solutions operating group and vice president of operations for platform solutions.
