Olympia J. Snowe has joined the Bipartisan Policy Center as a senior fellow. She is a Republican who served in the Senate for Maine. She also has served in the House.

Shermineh Rohanizadeh has been hired as director of media relations at the Glen Echo Group. She worked on external communications at Voice of America. She also was a founder and director of communications for Weapons of Mouse Destruction, an art project about government Internet censorship. She also served as a contributor to Ketchum Mindfire Crowdsourcing. She worked on community relations and engagement for the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans.

Ellen Backus has been hired as senior media counsel at the Glen Echo Group. She also works as a PR consultant to Welz & Weisel Communications. Backus served as a senior communications specialist at Gaia Group DC. She was a senior associate at Tier One Partners. She was an account director at Fitzgerald Communications. She also served as an account manager at Geoghan Associates. She worked as an account executive at The Hoyt Organization.

The following people have been hired as senior associates at Meyers & Associates:

David Davis was legislative director and a senior adviser to former Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas. He was a senior adviser for the Republican staff on the Senate Commerce Committee and chief of staff to Hutchison, the then-vice chair of the Republican Conference. He also served as her military legislative assistant. He also has worked as senior vice president and corporate secretary at ChoicePoint Inc. He served in the Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

David Collins was regional director for South Asia and the Arabian Gulf for the Cotton Council International. He also served as its assistant executive director. He worked as a private sector liaison for the National Commission on Agricultural Trade & Export Policy. He also worked in the Texas Oil & Gas industry.

Tim Richardson was government affairs director for the American Land Conservancy. He also has served as special assistant to former Sen. Lloyd Bentsen, D-Texas. He also was administrative assistant to former Rep. Greg Laughlin, R-Texas.

The following people have been hired at law and lobbying firm Thompson Coburn:

Kenneth D. Salomon has been hired in the lobbying and policy group as chairman and as a partner. Salomon was the chairman of lobbying firm Dow Lohnes Government Strategies and a member of the firm lobbying, campaign finance, and congressional ethics practice. He has served as deputy chief counsel at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration under President Jimmy Carter. He has also worked as senior legal counsel at the Federal Communications Commission.

James M. Burger has been hired as a partner in the lobbying and policy group. Burger worked at Dow Lohnes as a member in the firm’s intellectual property, entertainment content licensing, communications and government policy practices. He has worked as a senior director in Apple Computer’s law department. He also has served as chairman of the Information Technology Industry Council’s proprietary rights committee.

Christopher T. Murray has been hired as a partner in the lobbying and policy group. Murray was vice president for education policy at Dow Lohnes Government Strategies. He has worked at Dow Lohnes as an attorney in the higher education practice group.

Haley E. Davis has been hired as senior manager of government affairs in the lobbying and policy group. Davis was senior manager of government affairs at Dow Lohnes Government Strategies. She has worked as a staff assistant to Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Pa.
