Zakir Ali Baig has been hired as director of the Republican staff on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. He was legislative director for Sen. David Vitter, R-La. He also has served as a legislative correspondent and legislative assistant to Vitter.
Victoria Napier has been hired as senior vice president of federal government relations at EnergySolutions. She was senior policy adviser and then chief of staff to the assistant secretary for environmental management at the Energy Department. She also worked as a liaison to the Office of Homeland Security, the Agriculture Department, the EPA, the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board, and the Office of Science and Technology Policy at the Office of Presidential Personnel at the White House. She also was special assistant to the secretary of the Interior Department.
Ryan Wallach has been named senior deputy general counsel at Comcast Corp. He was special counsel at Willkie, Farr & Gallagher. He also has worked as a professorial lecturer at the Georgetown University law school. He served as a judicial clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in Washington.
Madura Wijewardena has been hired as senior director of public policy at Comcast Corp. He was director of research and policy at the National Urban League and served as a data analyst at Rob Paral and Associates in Chicago. Wijewardena worked as senior adviser to the “Get Out the Vote” director on Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. He also worked as a senior associate in technology, media and telecommunications at Gilbert + Tobin. Wijewardena was an intelligence analyst in special operations at NSW Police in Australia.
Nicole Vasilaros has been named director of regulatory and legal affairs at the National Marine Manufacturers Association. She was its manager of state government relations and legislative counsel. She was a legislative assistant to former Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, D-Fla. She also was a judiciary clerk for former Rep. Robert Wexler, D- Fla. She was a summer law clerk at The Cochran Firm.
Matt Gentile has been named as a member of the Interior Department’s National Geospatial Advisory Committee. Gentile is a principal at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services and is the head of Deloitte’s geospatial practice. He has worked as CEO of Traverse Technologies Inc. and Syncline Inc. He also has worked as a staffer in the White House’s Office on Environmental Policy under President Bill Clinton.
Shawn Degnan has been promoted to managing director at MorganFranklin Consulting. Degnan was a director at the firm. He has worked as a senior manager at Ernst & Young, a law and lobbying firm. He has also worked at the firm as a capital markets senior manager, audit manager and audit staff accountant.
Michael Krone has been promoted to treasurer and chief financial officer at Deltek Inc., an information technology company. Krone was a senior vice president and corporate controller. He has worked as vice president of finance and chief accounting officer at software company webMethods. He also has worked as a public services industry controller at consulting firm BearingPoint.
Heather Blanchard has been hired as director of wireless Internet development at trade group CTIA-The Wireless Association. Blanchard was a strategic communications adviser for New Cicada. She has worked as a business liaison director at the Homeland Security Department. She also has worked as a senior communications analyst at information technology company SRA International.
John Ullyot has been hired as managing director of the Washington office at High Lantern Group, a consulting firm. Ullyot was senior vice president of media relations and issues management at lobbying and public relations firm Hill+Knowlton Strategies. He has worked as director of communications and deputy chief of staff for former Sen. John W. Warner, R-Va. He also has worked as vice president of corporate communications for AOL Europe.
