People on the Move

The following three people have been hired in the office of Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, D-N.Y.:

Lara Kitain has been hired as a scheduler. Kitain was a finance associate for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. She also worked for Rep. Patrick Murphy’s, D-Pa., 2010 campaign. She also served as his volunteer coordinator for that race.

Samuel Garrett has been hired as a special assistant. He was a political intern at the Victory Fund & Institute. He has also served as a public policy intern at GLSEN. Garrett worked as a research and policy intern at the Education Department under President Barack Obama.

Caitlin Girouard has been hired as a legislative correspondent and press assistant. Girouard was a field organizer for his 2012 campaign for congress. She has also worked as a litigation project assistant for McDermott Will & Emery. She served as a volunteer for the Sen. Joe Donnelly’s, D-Ind., 2010 run for Congress. She was an intern at Common Cause. She previously worked as an intern for then-Rep. Donnelly. She also served as an intern to former Sen. Richard Lugar, D-Ind.

Richard Hertling has been hired as of counsel and resident in the global public policy and government affairs practice at Covington & Burling. Hertling was deputy chief of staff, staff director and chief counsel for the Republican staff on the House Judiciary Committee. He worked as acting assistant attorney general in charge of the office of legislative affairs and principal deputy assistant attorney general in the office of legal policy. He was also domestic and legal policy adviser to former Sen. Fred Thompson’s, R- R-Tenn., presidential campaign. He was also chief of staff to former Sen. Peter Fizgerald, R-Il.

The following three people have been hired at Sidley Austin:

William Blumenthal has been hired as a partner. He was a partner at Clifford Chance. He has also served as general counsel at the Federal Trade Commission under President George W. Bush. He was also a partner at King & Spalding.

Kenneth L. Glazer has been hired as a partner. He was partner at K&L Gates.

Karen Kazmerzak has been hired as counsel. She was an antitrust associate at K&L Gates. She has also served as an attorney in the bureau of competition at the FTC. She worked as a research associate at the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. She was a post-baccalaureate fellow at the National Institute for Dental & Craniofacial Research at the National Institutes of Health.

Kelley McCormick has been hired as a managing director at SKDKnickerbocker. She was executive vice president at McBee Gibraltar. McCormick has also served as a partner and chief operating officer at Gibraltar Associates. She was a partner at Qorvis Communications. She worked as a group vice president at Powell Tate and Weber Shandwick Public Affairs. She served as an associate account executive at Ketchum Public Relations.

Ronald Triche has been hired as assistant general counsel and director of government affairs at the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries. Triche was a director and a retirement plans benefits attorney at Trucker Huss. He has worked as an associate at the Goins Law Firm. He has also worked as an associate at Adams & Reese.

Matt Raymond has been named senior director of communications at the International Food Information Council. Raymond was a principal at communications firm Yellow Brick Strategies. He has worked as director of communications for the Library of Congress. He has also worked as a senior adviser for communications at UNICEF and as director of speechwriting at the Agriculture Department under President George W. Bush.

Micah Edmond has been hired as assistant vice president of industrial base policy at the Aerospace Industries Association, a trade group. Edmond is the CEO of consulting firm Edmond & Co. He has worked as a senior military legislative assistant for Rep. Michael R. Turner, R-Ohio. He has also worked as a military legislative assistant for Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C.

Katherine D. Ashley has been promoted to partner in the mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance practices at law and lobbying firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Ashley was counsel. She has worked as a law clerk for District court Judge Ernest Torres.

David B. Leland has been promoted to partner in the criminal and civil enforcement matters and complex civil litigation practices at Skadden. Leland was counsel. He has worked as a staff director and legislative director for former Rep. Charles Bass, R-N.H. He also has worked as a legislative director for former Rep. William F. Clinger, R-Pa.
