Before Going Overseas, Baucus Gave Away Some of His Campaign Funds

Days before becoming the new U.S. Ambassador to China, a U.S. Senator gave away almost half a million dollars from his political fund.

Former Sen. Max Baucus , D-Mont., contributed $475,000 on January 31st to the Montana Democratic Party, which reported it today to the Federal Election Commission. The funds came from the former Senator’s campaign account, Friends of Max Baucus. The campaign account reported having $3,200,508 cash on hand at the end of 2013.

Baucus contributed the funds while he was still a U.S. Senator. He was confirmed as the new U.S. Ambassador to China on February 6, 2014.
