Democratic Governors Association Raises $11.7 Million

The Democratic Governors Association  reported  raising $11,722,581 and spending $6,753,330 during the first quarter of the year.  

Major individual donors included John P. Anderson (retired, AZ) $100,000; and Dennis Washington (founder, Washington Corporations, WA) $100,000.  

Top corporate, association, and union donors included AFSCME (DC) $895,000; Service Employees Int’l. IPEA (DC) $495,000; DRIVE Committee (DC) $400,000; Int’l. Assn. of Fire Fighters (DC) $300,000; BlueCross BlueShield Association (IL) $250,000; WellPoint Inc; National Education Assn. (DC) $250,000 and $145,000 from the NEA Advocacy Fund (DC).  

Other donors were the Travelers Indemnity Company (CT) $225,000; AT&T Services Inc. (NJ) $225,000; Duke Energy (NC) $200,000; Laborers Political League Great Lakes Region (IL) $200,000; American Federation of Teachers (DC) $200,000; Covanta Energy Corp. (NJ) $150,000; United Food & Commercial Workers Union (DC) $150,000; PhRMA (DC) $140,000; GTECH Corporation (RI) $125,000; RAI Services Company (NC) $115,757; Maximus (VA) $110,297; Conoco Phillips Company (TX) $100,000; GGNSC Administrative Services (AR) $100,000; American Society of Anesthesiologists (IL) $100,000; Southern Company (GA) $100,000; TracFone Wireless Inc. (FL) $100,000; IBEW PAC Education Fund (DC) $100,000; Merck Sharp Dohme Corp. (NJ) $100,000; GlaxoSmithKline (PA) $100,000; and National Assn. of Home Builders (DC) $100,000.  

The committee spent more than $1.2 million with Great American Media for media buys. The committee gave more than $100,000 to PA Families First; about $500,000 to Jobs Opportunity (DC); $70,000 to Rebuild Ohio; $59,689 to the Maine Democratic Party; and $26,400 to the Pennsylvania Democratic Party; among others.
