Super PAC Donor Gives $585K More, Joins Top Tier (Updated)

An individual donor to Super PACs has given $585,000 in April and May, moving him into the top ten Super PAC donors this election cycle.  

John Jordan , the CEO of the Jordan Winery in Healdsburg, California, has contributed $585,000 to the New Republican.org super PAC during April and May. He gave $285,000 on April 24th, and $300,000 on May 5th , which was reported today.  

The New Republican.org super PAC was founded in 2013 by Alex Castellanos to promote a positive GOP agenda for the future. Its earlier ads featured former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, R-Fla., and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, R-La. The group received $500,000 in early funding from members of the DeVos family. From May 1st through May 31st the group has spent $248,634 on independent expenditures supporting Monica Wehby, R-Ore., in the Oregon U.S. Senate race.  

John Jordan had previously given $1.7 million in 2013 to Americans for Progressive Action, which spent $624,823 against Rep. Edward Markey, R-Mass., and $702,003 for Gabriel Gomez, R-Mass., in the U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts.  

John Jordan’s recent $585,000 in contributions, and the earlier ones, bring his 2013-2014 election cycle total to super PACs up to $2,285,000, placing him as the 10th largest super PAC donor, of those reporting so far.
