Ted Cruz, asking attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch during her confirmation hearing about “internal [Department of Justice] rules that require recusal” and former Attorney General John Mitchell’s fitness to investigate the Watergate break-in. Mitchell had resigned as Nixon’s attorney general on Feb. 15, 1972, more than four months before the June 17, 1972 break-in.
