McCarthy Honors 150th Anniversary of Lincoln’s Death

On the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s death, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy paid tribute to the 16th president Wednesday on the House floor, noting Lincoln was a member of the House of Representatives before he became “one of our greatest statesmen.”

“At 7:22 this morning, 150 years ago, we lost one of the greatest leaders of our nation, President Abraham Lincoln,” McCarthy said. “As we remember Lincoln as one of the greatest American leaders and the truest embodiment of American principles, our country still feels the mark of his great presence today.”
