Less than ten days from a government shutdown, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid opened Tuesday’s press conference by hammering Republican leaders for “walking us right into another shutdown,” echoing calls Democrats have made repeatedly for budget negotiations and for a “clean” continuing resolution.“This is the hallmark of this Republican Congress: create an unnecessary manufactured crisis, then march to the edge of another cliff and then wait for the next cliff to show up,” Reid said. “… I would hope the Republicans have their act together more than they did on the Iran thing — you know the House was doing one thing, they were doing something else over here.”
