No Endorsements From White House on Speaker Race

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Tuesday that a White House endorsement would not be helpful for speaker candidates and declined to give an opinion on the potential speakership bid of Rep. Paul D. Ryan. “Rather than try to navigate that twisted knot of political complexity, I’m just going to let Republicans decide for themselves who they believe should lead the Republican conference,” Earnest said.
