Hillary Clinton Still Struggling To Attract Youth Vote
Core group of Sanders supporters not yet sold on Clinton

On the day that Sen. Bernie Sanders endorsed Hillary Clinton for president and pledged to do everything he can to support her, not all of his younger supporters appear to be following him.
A recent Pew Research Center poll shows Clinton bleeding support among people ages 18-29 to Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson. When the former New Mexico governor is included in the race between Clinton and Republican Donald Trump, Clinton’s support drops by 13 points from 60 percent to 47 percent.
But Trump isn’t doing any better: Johnson earns the support of 22 percent of Americans aged 18-29, one point ahead of the billionaire mogul, according to the poll. A June GenForward poll showed that Clinton’s favorability rating with voters aged 18-30 was at 39 percent. That number falls to 26 percent among younger, white Americans.
Nonwhite, young voters generally see Clinton in a more favorable light.
The former secretary of state has a 64 percent favorability rating with African Americans, and a 55 percent rating among Asian Americans.
Overall, the poll found that 55 percent of the young people surveyed said Clinton is qualified to be president.
Her numbers look much better if you compare them to young Americans’ views on Trump.
Only 19 percent had a favorable opinion of Trump and just 21 percent said that he is qualified to be president, according to the poll.
