Reality appears to be setting in for the GOP candidates running for Senate in Florida.

Sen. Marco Rubio has hardly mentioned the election in recent campaign speeches and his main opponent, Carlos Beruff, has reduced spending on television ads and has made just one public appearance in the last six days, the Miami Herald reported.

A Mason-Dixon poll released Thursday shows Rubio with a commanding 61 percent to 22 percent lead over Beruff in the GOP primary.

On the Democratic side, Rep. Patrick Murphy holds a large lead over Rep. Alan Grayson, 55 percent to 22 percent, the poll found.

The Florida primaries take place on Tuesday.

In a general election matchup, Rubio leads Murphy by 3 percentage points, 46 percent to 43 percent, within the poll’s 4-point margin of error. The poll was conducted from Monday to Wednesday and surveyed 625 registered Florida voters.
