Former Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann said she believes there’s a divine power behind Donald Trump’s run for the presidency.

In an interview with the Christian television network CBN, Bachmann said she initially supported Sen. Ted Cruz.

“I thought he was fabulous,” she said of Cruz. “But I also see that at the end of the day, God raised up, I believe, Donald Trump who was going to be the nominee in this election.”

“I don’t think God sits things out,” she added. “He’s a sovereign God.”

Bachmann, who earned a reputation in Congress and in her failed presidential run as a firebrand social conservative, serves on Trump’s evangelical executive advisory board and has said she is advising Trump on foreign policy
